What to Expect
by: the Haunted NC/Seven team
Considering an investigation? Please read the information
below to help understand what to expect and how you can help us help you.
. Please don't hesitate to email
with any questions! Please see our special note at the bottom.
- We are a volunteer organization. What does this mean? It means every
member and associate is doing this without getting paid a penny. Most
likely these same volunteers are funding everything out of their pocket
as well (gas, equipment costs, development costs, web site costs, etc...).
All our current members have full time jobs (sometimes more than one!)
outside the paranormal as well as families, continuing education and
other day to day thing. The bottom line is that every case we work,
and every bit of independent research or other contribution made has
to be done by working around schedules and occasionally finances. Every
member is serious about this field and spend the time gaining education
through credible sources to best achieve our goals, but real life does
get in the way some time (believe me... EVERY one of our volunteers
would LOVE to do this full time!). Please be a little patient. We work
as fast as possible, but also want to be able to be as thorough as possible.
- If you are dealing with paranormal events in your home, business,
etc. start keeping a log. This will go a long way when you contact us
to help determine frequency of events, possible explanations, etc. It
makes the time involved much more worthwhile (and more likely to be
able to actually experience the events) if we know when and where things
usually occur. If a ghost showed up once in 1967 and never again that's
going to make it pretty hard for us to get any kind of data :-( Keep
as much information as possible in your log - things such as time, day/date,
where the event happened, exactly what happened (as many details as
possible), who was present near by and/or witnessed the event. Any other
note could be useful too. You can never write too many details!
- When contacting us, let us know a couple of things like where you
are located (If your not near us we may be able to refer you to someone
closer), what's happening, if you are considering an investigation or
would just like some ideas (we're glad to do that too), and if you have
been physically threatened or otherwise feel unsafe. And please remember
that patience thing :-) In a true emergency one of us will get in touch
immediately.
- Check our featured articles... it might answer your question or help
your inquiry when you do contact us. We try to add to it fairly often
with new questions or information.
- We start considering possible locations by chatting with you via email
or phone, asking lots of questions and making suggestions. The next
step (if the first didn't solve the problem or answer your questions)
is to do an on site visit and personal interview. The 3rd (sometimes
done during the 1st visit) is to do a full walk through of the area
drawing maps, taking basic readings and photographing the area. The
4th is to do historical and area research and the 5th to set up a time
to do several hours of on site, fully equipped investigation work. As
you can see - our investigations are not a one time field trip to whoop
it up in a 'scary' place. A full investigation is very THOROUGH but
very TIME CONSUMING.
Don't be afraid to email again - we really do appreciate the patience
and flexibility on your part.
